DriveMint Updates
Every release, and the promise that never changes: your data stays on your phone.
From logged drives to a signed state form.
DriveMint now fills in the official supervised driving log or certification for 43 states and DC, and the parent or supervisor can sign it right on the phone.
- Official state forms — From the California log and New York MV-262 to the Pennsylvania DL-180C and Texas 30-hour log, every state with a form to fill is covered, laid out to match the original. Part of DriveMint Pro.
- Sign in the app — The parent, or on North Carolina's DL-4A the supervising driver, signs with a finger and the signature prints on the form with the date. Signatures are drawn fresh each time and never stored. Part of DriveMint Pro.
- Blank lines where the state wants ink — Forms that must be signed before a notary, a DMV examiner or by hand export with the signature line left blank, so they won't be turned away.
- The free log, everywhere — DriveMint's own driving log stays free in every state, for families who don't need the official form or live where there isn't one.
- Also fixed — The NC DL-4A now prints every drive instead of stopping at 40. Minnesota now requires 50 hours and Oregon 100, correcting totals that were set too low, and several states' practice-hour notes were corrected.
Drives now take care of themselves.
A new on-device location engine measures the real distance of every drive, even with the phone locked, and uses motion sensing to notice when you've parked. Idle time stays out of your log.
- Real distance in the background — Miles are counted by a native odometer that keeps running with the screen off or another app open. On Android, drives keep recording even after the app is swiped away.
- Automatic stop detection — Park for 10 minutes and the drive pauses from the moment you stopped, so time in a parking lot never counts as practice. When you pull away, DriveMint asks if you're driving again.
- Forgotten drives end on time — A drive left running is saved at the last moment the car was actually moving, not hours later. Stops that happened while the app was closed are caught the next time you open it.
- Pause notifications — A "Drive paused" notification with Resume and End buttons, so you can handle it without opening the app.
- Quick setup on first launch — A short guide sets up your permit, first supervisor and location access in about a minute, or restores a backup. Requires iOS 16.4 or later.
Your route is never saved or uploaded. Location and motion data stay on your phone.
Your progress, everywhere you look.
DriveMint's biggest update yet: your drive on the Lock Screen, a home-screen progress widget, a projected finish date, sunset-accurate night hours, and full backup — all without a single account, ad, or trip to the cloud.
- Lock Screen & Dynamic Island — Start a drive and a live timer follows you to the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, counting while your phone stays locked and in your pocket. Glance and go — no unlocking the app at a red light. (Requires iOS 16.2+.)
- Home-screen widget — Add the DriveMint widget and see a progress ring toward your state's required hours at a glance, with your night-hours line underneath. It refreshes automatically every time you log a drive.
- Projected finish date — DriveMint reads your practice pace over the last four weeks and projects when you'll hit your state's total-hours requirement — turning “how many hours left?” into a real target month.
- Sunset-accurate night hours — Nighttime minutes now count against the real local sunrise and sunset for the day and place you drove, computed entirely on your device — so your log stands up to a DMV clerk.
- Backup & restore — Export all of your drives, supervisors, and profiles to a single file you control — Files, email, your own cloud drive — and restore it in seconds on a new phone. Free for everyone.
- Also improved — Dark-mode polish across state details, progress, and profile screens; stricter validation on imported QR drives; more accurate background GPS distance; on-device permit-photo optimization; plus timezone-correct dates and a long list of reliability fixes.
As always: no accounts, no ads, no cloud. Your driving data never leaves your phone.
