Why We Built DriveMint
A father and son project born out of necessity
Meet the Team
DriveMint was created by a father and son team. When our teen recently got his learner's permit, we were excited to start tracking his driving practice hours. Little did we know, finding the right tool would lead us to build our own app.
The Problem We Faced
We tried using the app recommended by our local DMV — RoadReady — to track our son's driving progress. Unfortunately, the app seemed outdated and had extremely poor reviews. Even worse, when we tried to install it on our Samsung phones, we were greeted with this message:

"This app is not available for any of your devices" — our phones were apparently too modern for the recommended tracking app. And going back to paper logs just didn't feel like the right solution in 2026.
Our Solution
We decided to build something better. DriveMint was designed from the ground up to be:
- Modern & Compatible — Works on all current iOS and Android devices
- User-Friendly — Clean, intuitive interface that's easy to use
- Privacy-First — Your data stays on your device. We don't spy on you.
- Family-Friendly Features — Parents or instructors can log drives on their phones and transfer them to the student's device
Coming Soon: NC Driving Exam Videos
As part of this learning journey, our teen is also creating short educational videos covering the knowledge needed to pass the North Carolina driving exam. These videos will be posted here to help other learner drivers prepare for their tests. Stay tuned!
